David Clay Quentel

November 2, 1936 ~ February 5, 2017 (age 80) 80 Years Old

David Clay Quentel, 80, of Prineville passed away Sunday, February 5, 2017. There will be a private memorial service in August in Newport, Ore.

David was born November 2, 1936 in Portland, Ore. David and Joyce were married 54 years. He attended Washington High and graduated in 1954. David then went in the Navy and spent 15 years at sea as a Merchant Marine for Standard Oil in Richmond, Cal. He then moved back to Portland, Ore to work for Willamette Tug and Barge for 30 years.

 He attended Blue Mountain Community College in 1975 in Boardman, Ore., where the company he worked for paid for him to change his career to welding. He then worked dredging the Columbia at Bonneville Dam and in Troutdale Chinook landing. His last job was in Newport staying for the summer and working on the Newport Jetty rock removal project widening the bar and dredging the jetty in Newport Bay, Ore.

 David then retired in 1999 and moved to Prineville, Ore., because it was sunny every day.

David was loved dearly by his wife Joyce of Prineville, and Two daughters Renee, and Linda, As well as a sister Nancy McCracken, uncle Victor Clay, niece Susan McCracken, nephew Steven McCracken and five cousins, eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

David is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Rebecka Quentel and a nephew Glen McCracken.

Memorial contributions may be made to Crook County Humane Society through Juniper Ridge Funeral Home.
