Arline Venla Joyce

Arline Venla (Martin) Joyce, 82, passed away on November 17, 2017, in Prineville, Ore. Celebration of Life is not planned at this time.

Arline was born on August 28, 1935 in Portland, Ore. to Earl and Venla Martin of Scappoose, Ore. She attended Scappoose High School. Arline became a Legal Secretary and retired in 2008.

Arline was involved with the Prineville Soroptimist for several years and the Redmond Community Church. She was recognized with various awards, like Skagit Women in Business as Treasurer, Skagit County Legal Secretaries Association Newsletter editor, and President in every other Office, Skagit County Legal Secretary Of the Year, Washington Association of Legal Assistants, 1st and 2nd VP, President Elect and President. WAL’s Legal Secretary of the year and Officer of the Year. Arline was also the Board of Directors for 3 years of the National Association of Legal Assistants and NALS Foundation Chair for a year. She was a Creative Memories Unit Leader. Arline was President of the Prineville Soroptimist for 2 ½ years, restored the Annual Golf Tournament, started the Christmas store for the Bazaar, the can/bottle collection project, club newsletter added 10 new members were added during her term and became Chamber of Commerce Volunteers of the Year along with her husband Boyd in 2017.

Arline was loved dearly by her husband Boyd of 31 years and is survived by a daughter, Pamela Smith, son, Dale Smith, two step sons, Colin and Corey Joyce, along with five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by son Michael Smith.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Charles Hospice of Prineville and the Soroptimist International Prineville, through Juniper Ridge Funeral Home.
