Jacqueline Anne Bates

December 12, 1942 ~ December 22, 2017 (age 75) 75 Years Old

 

Jackie Bates, 75, of Prineville, Ore. passed way Friday, December 22, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at the Powell Butte Christian Church in Powell Butte, Ore. at 10:00 A.M. with a luncheon to follow immediately after the service.

Jackie, was born on December 12, 1942 in San Diego, Calif. To Bob and Lillian Zahm.  

Jackie, attended the Springfield High School, in Springfield, Ore. where she graduated in 1960. She worked at various meat markets in her early years. Jackie and her family moved to Prineville in 1972.

She became an aide for the Crooked River School playground in 1973. She then moved to Prineville Junior High School o be a Librarian Assistant, until moving to Attendance Secretary. Jackie then became head Secretary for Crook County Middle School until retiring in 2000.

Jackie and Willis Eton Bates married on December 26, 1960, where they had two sons, and two daughters, they later divorced but remained friends.

Jackie loved to travel with her sisters, spending time with her family, loved to quilt and do crafts with her friends from Powell Butte Christian Church. She also loved books, scrap booking, taking photos and making photo albums for family and friends, and for many years, she loved helping with the Lords Acre sale.

Jackie was affiliated with the Powell Butte Christian Church Quilters and the Lord Acre Crafters Group.

Jackie is survived by two sons, Steven (Patty) Bates, and Andy (Dawn) Bates, two daughters, Lori (Steve) Ontko, and Kim (Jon) Smith, three sisters, Toni Fisher, Lynne Pimentel, Bobbie (Buzz) Gilmore and a brother, Byrne (Tina) Zahm. Her longtime friend, Dorothy Robinson, 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous adopted kids and grandkids including the Robinson Families. As well as numerous friends and her church family.

Jackie is preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Lillian Zahm and infant daughter, Sharon Lynne.

Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of one’s choice, through Juniper Ridge Funeral Home. Jackie had many charities she contributed to.
