Laine Musil Obituary

Laine Sheridan Musil passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 1, 2018, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She was 56 years old.

There will be a Memorial Service and potluck on Sunday, April 15 at 11 a.m. at the Prineville Golf Club.

Laine was born Sept. 2, 1961, in Glendale, California, to David and Minnie Ballard. The family moved to Newport Beach, California, when Laine was young. She grew up living on the beach, sailing in the bay and water skiing with her Uncle Don and family on Kings River. She graduated from Newport Harbor High School in 1980.

Laine was the owner of Tramps Salon in Prineville from 1995 to present. She began her cosmetology career while still in high school, assisting at Richard Alette’s, then moving on to MoonGate Salon in Orange County. When she and Steve moved to Oregon, she started her own business, Tramps Salon.

On May 16, 1981, Laine married Steven Musil in Newport Beach, California. They had their first daughter, Sheridan Lee Musil, on Dec. 19, 1984. Their second daughter, Lacey Musil Ritschard, was born Oct. 1, 1986. The family then moved to Prineville in the summer of 1992, and then came their youngest daughter, Stevie Elizabeth Musil, born Feb. 12, 1993.

Laine’s life revolved around her family and Tramps. She was a very proud mother and spent every opportunity watching her girls cheer, was involved in their dance recitals, and was out on the lake with them and Steve. She met so many wonderful people through her daughters’ activities. She loved being involved in it all.

When Laine wasn’t running her business or helping her husband with his, you could find her and Steve on the lake water skiing together. She loved the summer, being outside and being on the water.

Survivors include her husband, Steven; three daughters, Sheridan, Lacey and Stevie; son-in-law, Justin Ritschard; parents, David and Minnie Ballard, of Newport Beach, California; sister, Lynn Gosselin, of Newport Beach, California; brother, Larry Ballard, of Costa Mesa, California; as well as many extended family members.

Laine was preceded in death by her in-laws, Lawrence and Leah Musil, and her grandparents, Mryna and Dessi Burks.
